Financial Analyst

Alphawave IP Group Plc is an exciting, fast growing and highly profitable North American/UK semiconductor business which recently completed a £856M initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange. The company has grown rapidly since its inception 4 years ago and will continue to grow given the market it serves, its customer base and the recent funds generated from the listing.  We are looking to quickly scale our finance department and now seek to recruit a Financial Analyst to bolster our continued growth and acquisitions.

The Opportunity 

This is a dynamic opportunity to join an experienced finance team at rapidly growing technology company. The Financial Analyst will report to the North American (NA) Controller while supporting the financial reporting and analysis of Alphawave.  The incumbent will also work closely with the NA Director of Finance and get exposure to the UK finance team, playing a key role in the growth of the financial operations of the company.

What You’ll Do

• Support the month-end closing process including account and report reconciliations, accruals, journal entries and analysis.
• Manage accounts payable coverage on a regular basis
• Assist in preparation of monthly financials including all journal entries, bank reconciliations and cash management.
• Help with the implementation and maintenance of financial processes, systems and controls
• Participate and support in providing information to external auditors for half-year and year-end in a financial review/audit conducted by an external auditor.
• Responsible for maintaining the integrity and completeness of the books of record.
• Assist with monthly board package, providing analysis on variance from budget.
• Develop and manage analytical tools and processes to improve the quality and transparency of financial results and forecasts as they relate to assigned business areas
• Perform regular reviews of project costing and gross margin to identify discrepancies and trends as well as quantifying the financial impact of business initiatives and changes
• Assist with project and resource planning for quarterly forecast.
• Provide proactive analytical support and assist in special/ad-hoc projects as needs arise

About You

• Bachelor’s Degree/College Diploma in Business, Accounting, Economics, or related fields
• 2-3 years of experience in financial reporting and planning
• Proficient with Microsoft software, and demonstrate strong aptitude with Excel
• Experience with accounting software; knowledge of QuickBooks Online is an asset
• Strong General Accounting experience and knowledge of month end close processes
• Good level of controls, processes and systems skills
• Comfortable and able at the Downtown Toronto office for 2-3 days a week
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure
